Service Description

Why Improv? Improvisation is the cornerstone of exceptional acting and performing. It's the art of reacting spontaneously and authentically in the moment, a skill essential for actors, comedians, and all entertainment professionals. Not only does it contribute to compelling performances, but it also nurtures quick thinking, adaptability, and self-confidence, skills which extend far beyond the stage. Improv For Actors Length of sessions: 120min Classes: 4 What you will learn: In this 2 hour, four week long class, we explore the art of improvisation. Starting with a suggestion we learn the steps necessary to reach a full scene with interesting characters that the audience will fall in love with watching you will delight in playing. Once we are able to create compelling scenes at will, then we learn to explore the scenes in order to design the plot, develop the characters, and best of all follow the funny. Here's the bonus: Performing a great improv scene requires the exact same skill set needed to be an effective communicator. Effective communication is the foundation to successful relationships. The three factors of effective communication: Clarity: Great communicators convey their message in a clear and understandable manner. They use language that is free from ambiguity and jargon, making it easy for their audience to comprehend the message. Active Listening: Effective communication is a two-way process. Great communicators not only express themselves well but also actively listen to others. They pay attention to what others are saying, ask relevant questions, and provide feedback to ensure that the message is fully understood. Empathy: Empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings of others. Great communicators demonstrate empathy by considering the perspectives and emotions of their audience. This helps build rapport and trust, making communication more effective and meaningful. These skills and more are covered in this virtual class. Note: Improv For Actors is an ongoing, virtual class.
